They hold hands, and exchanged a glance.
They stayed a long while without moving, just looking
at each other, communicating through their eyes, trying to understand the world
as they saw it through that look, and trying to embrace it.
Before they met, they were miserable. Misunderstood,
neglected, abused, sad and resigned, their world was like a locked tiny room
with no ventilation. They felt that day by day, the air was rarefying, everyday
it was harder to fill up their lungs with oxygen.
Convinced that the day their hearts would stop beating
forever trapped in that airless room wasn’t too far away.
Until they saw each other, and they felt a slit had
appeared in the wall of that room, letting the air they craved for and needed
to live, enter.
